Our side (group) was formed in 2021, in between COVID lockdowns. Our dances come from a few traditions; predominantly from the Cotswold village of Adderbury (the Adderbury Tradition) and Border Morris, from the England/ Wales border. Morris dancing can be traced in England back to the 14th Century; there are many different traditions, tunes, styles and outfits.
We wear dark shoes, trousers, skirts or kilts and t-shirts or vests with our sun logo, with a tatter coat (usually an old blue shirt with collars and sleeves removed) of navy blue, royal blue and yellow tatters and a woven flax top hat with a band of the same tatters around it; plus any additional decorations we choose! This often includes feathers, badges, flowers, whatever. We also wear bell pads when we are dancing.
We dance using short and long sticks, and occasionally yellow hankies.
We have gear that can be borrowed for new members.
